Urban Alert Set To Launch Tech Platform For Social Accountability.
Urban Alert set to partner ICPC
In line with its focus on open governance, Urban Alert is set to launch a tech project that will focus on Zonal Intervention Project of the Federal Government. This project will equip citizens with information that will help them track, own-up and ensure a timely and quality project.
This was revealed by Urban Alert’s Team Lead, Anthony Adejuwon, during an advocacy visit to the Resident Commissioner of the Independent Corrupt Practices & Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) at his Osun State Office. The visit offered the Urban Alert team and the ICPC the opportunity to deliberate on key issues surrounding corruption in public project execution and the need to form a formidable force to fight these issues.
Understanding the need for synergy, collaboration and in line with ICPC’s Constituency and Executive Project Tracking initiative (CEPTi), the Osun Resident Commissioner of ICPC, Mr. Ademola Bakare expressed the willingness of the anti-graft agency to partner with Urban Alert to ensure corruption-free public projects. Bakare stated that partnerships with NGOs and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) are essential to address the state of corruption in the country. The Resident Commissioner further emphasized the practice of integrity as a key to sustaining the relationship with ICPC.
Every year, N1.6 billion is allotted for Zonal Intervention Projects facilitated by senators and the house of representative members from Osun State. Many residents are unaware of these projects and many of the projects have been personalized by their facilitators. With ICPC, Urban Alert is set to bring information to the doorsteps of citizens for them to demand timely and quality Zonal Intervention Projects devoid of corruption.
