In his words, Mr. Maike reiterate that “NESREA is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that the environment is safe and cleaner, and there are 34 gazetted regulations governing our activities in the environmental sector with the exclusion of the oil and gas sector”. He further promised that the agency will leave no stone unturn in fighting unfriendly environmental activities that can make life miserable for the common man.
In his address, Urban Alert’s Program Officer, Mr. Julius Ayowole appreciate the effort of NESREA for standing up for the environment since it was established in 2007. He also reiterates the need for NESREA to have a partnership with Urban Alert in order to enforce environmental standards in communities.
The heads of units present also encouraged the team to stay courageous in the face of backlashes while performing its duty and to also ensure efficient communication between the team and the agency.
The state office has been in operation since 2008 and has been effective ever since. The partnership between Urban Alert and NESREA is aimed at fostering the implementation of solutions to social issues pertaining to environmental health and cleanliness.
