Urban Alert is a non-governmental, nonprofit, civic-tech organization leveraging technology in amplifying people’s voices. We are keen on engaging governments and private corporations for swift action on policies and issues affecting the common man.
In line with its focus on open governance, Urban Alert and the Independent Corrupt Practices & Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have agreed to join efforts together to ensure transparency and accountability in execution of public projects. This aligns with ICPC’s Constituency and Executive Project Tracking initiative (CEPTi).
The understanding came up during a courtesy visit of the Urban Alert team to the ICPC Osun State office led by the Team Lead, Anthony Adejuwon. The visit was an avenue to be presented a letter of recognition for the organization as part of the National Anti-Corruption Coalition (NACC).
The ICPC Osun Resident Commissioner, Mr. Ademola Bakare express the willingness of the anti-graft agency to partner with the organization in the area of project tracking and fight against corruption. He stated that partnership with NGOs and civil society organizations (CSOs) are essential to address the state of corruption in the country through presentation of their discoveries and information. The Resident Commissioner further emphasized on the practice of integrity as a key to sustain relationship with ICPC.
In his remarks, the Team Lead conveyed the readiness of Urban Alert, as a civil society organization to collaborate with ICPC in tracking public funded projects to ensure good governance and promote transparency.
