The Zonal Intervention Project (ZIP), commonly referred to as constituency project, was introduced in Nigeria during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999. Despite an annual N100 billion allocation, many communities remain unaware of projects in their area, and when projects happen without local input, infrastructure quickly falls into disrepair.
